We Are Proud To Support The International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.

For all the strides women have made in the world, violence continues to be among the most widespread and persistent threats to their well-being. The United Nations estimates that 1 in 3 women and girls experience physical or sexual violence in their lifetime.1 The question is: What can women do to stand up in the face of this injustice?

In solidarity with the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women on November 25, we’d like to share a window into the cycle of oppression KUROS helps to break. 

Many women in emerging countries struggle to safely engage in everyday tasks: Going to work, walking to school, getting food and water, or simply going outside the home. 

These types of restrictions dramatically limit a woman’s ability to meaningfully engage in the world – to learn, to pursue a career, or to support her family. It effectively makes these women prisoners in their homes or villages. This reality is limiting, wrapped in fear, and it’s devastating to the families and communities where it takes place. 

KUROS helps to stop this cycle by giving women a way to defend themselves. This gives women a path to being productive citizens. It’s a chance to move through the world more freely and enjoy the human rights we all deserve.
